New,Carolina Stop on National Pro Beach Volleyball Tour
Extreme Volleyball Professionals “City vs. City” Beach Competition Series Known as “EVP Pro Tour” Announces Isle of Palm Debut
From the EVP
Saturday, April 28, EVP Tour team Charleston challenges cities Hermosa Beach, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Miami, St. Louis, and many others, in games for fans to view courtside. Professional EVP pairs on 22 national stops compete this summer for more than $100,000 in cash and prizes.
“We’re thrilled to be on the East Coast at the Windjammer, where two of our top players, Jake Elliott and Matt Heath began their beach careers,” says Ross Balling, EVP Tour Commissioner. The Windjammer, host of the event that begins Saturday at 7am, consistently presents elite beach volleyball contests, dating back long before the sport became an Olympic competition.
During the event, through 6pm on Isle of Palms Beach, fans actually meet pro players and try free volleyball clinics. “You get to watch great athletes who perform at the highest level, athletes who work hard all year, and come down to perform in a new arena,” Matt Heath of team Charleston reminds. “It’s a great way to meet athletes, learn about the game, and the beach volleyball community is pretty nice. You won’t run into too many people who won’t help.”
Additionally for adults watching EVP-level play up close, there’ll be chances to win Corona Light prizes. Since 1983, the Windjammer has been offering high-level beach volleyball events, and with the help of Corona Light, this year embarks the first EVP stop there. Heath proudly claims, “The Windjammer’s the best venue to play on the East Coast, always an enthusiastic crowd, with a little Southern flair.”
