The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce the introduction of the AVCA High School Sand All-American awards program. Given the rapid growth of sand volleyball at the high school, club, and collegiate levels, now is the perfect opportunity to begin recognizing the top student-athletes from the high school and club ranks.
With this first year, the AVCA will select four (4) First Team and eight (8) Honorable Mention All-Americans. The selected athletes must be high school SENIORS that are expected to graduate in the spring or summer of 2014. The athletes will be chosen based upon their successes in beach tournaments across the country. Nominations will be accepted by email, fax, or standard mail during the month of April beginning on March 31st and ending on April 25th. A committee of six experienced and influential sand volleyball coaches and club directors from all regions of the United States will review the nominations and make their selections. Attached is the awards packet that features more details regarding the award, a timeline of deadlines, and the nomination form. Once the nomination period begins I will send out an announcement email that will include an editable pdf version of the nomination form.
This new awards program is designed to recognize elite student-athletes and grow the sport of sand volleyball. I hope you will join me in spreading the word and ensuring that the most deserving players are nominated during the April window. It is my intention that as sand volleyball continues to grow, as will the amount of athletes that receive national recognition as All-Americans.
