Charleston CVB Announces 2012 SportsFEST Activities

Charleston, W.Va. – The Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to once again host SportsFEST on Aug. 18-20, 2012. Events will take place at Magic Island, on the Kanawha River and on the Kanawha Boulevard at Haddad Riverfront Park. 

SportsFEST includes the 2012 UWP – IJSBA Toyota Governor’s Cup Watercross National Championship, 2012 EVP “Rocks the River” Pro Am Beach Championship and the 2012 Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge.

The United Way of Central West Virginia will sponsor a Block Party on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which includes carnival-style activities. In addition, it will bring back Sunday Scoop – wrapping up the last weekend before kids are scheduled to head back to school.

Friday, Aug. 18 – Corporate Challenge

Noon – 4 p.m. – UWP Toyota Governor’s Cup

Noon – 4 p.m. – EVP Pro Beach Volleyball

6:30 p.m. – Live on the Levee

All day – United Way Block Party

Saturday, Aug. 19

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. – EVP Pro Beach Volleyball

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. – UWP Toyota Governor’s Cup

6 – 8 p.m. – Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge

8 – 10 p.m. – Saturday night concert at Haddad Riverfront Park

All day – United Way Block Party

Sunday, Aug. 20

10 a.m. – Noon – Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Toyota Governor’s Cup UWP

Noon – 1 p.m. – EVP Pro Beach Volleyball

1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – JR. Spike N’ Splash 12 U, 14 U, 16 U
