Owner and founder, Allen Alexander, of The Sand Club, started leagues and tournaments in Mesa and Gilbert, Arizona in January 2008. The Sand Club expanded to Salty Senorita, a bar and grill in Peoria, and Mark Taylor luxury apartments in Chandler and Tempe in 2009. In 2010, The Sand Club teamed up with Cadillac Ranch and hosted the Sand Slam, originally offering a 6-on-6 sand volleyball tournament for players in the restaurant industry and other local businesses as well as raising money for charity. The first Sand Slam was at Tempe Beach Park. In 2011 so it was it was brought to the middle of Tempe Marketplace, an outdoor mall, where fans and spectators could watch from Cadillac Ranch’s balcony! This makes for some great excitement for the spectators and players.
Another big step for The Sand Club in 2011 was teaming up with volleyball professional, Ryan Mariano, who offered clinics for our junior club and adults which can be seen at www.thestarterclub.com.

Since it inception, The Sand Club has always been about the recreational players as much as the competitive players but making every player feel like a professional with scores and standings updated weekly on Facebook and Twitter, along with photo posts. EVP is a great fit, Allen said, “They believe in growing the players at their level and the New Point System they will be offering with their Team Mates Card for their players in 2012. Now our players can get a fare shake at every event they participate with the EVP and at home! The EVP point system will help our players to be placed Nationally at every level we play at. With every division of play being offered by EVP Tour. “ Ross said, “He is very excited to add this new division to the EVP, Our tournaments and play has always been about the player. We work hard to make sure the competition is exciting for our shows and events. We want every Team Mate to feel part of the EVP family and continue to participate through out the US. Sports event professionals were asked to name the sports commission, convention and visitors bureaus, or sports events venues that they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host. Nominations were received from readers throughout the year, and the top picks were selected based on the results from an online system.

Charleston, W.Va. – The Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to once again host SportsFEST on Aug. 18-20, 2012. Events will take place at Magic Island, on the Kanawha River and on the Kanawha Boulevard at Haddad Riverfront Park. 

SportsFEST includes the 2012 UWP – IJSBA Toyota Governor’s Cup Watercross National Championship, 2012 EVP “Rocks the River” Pro Am Beach Championship and the 2012 Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge.

The United Way of Central West Virginia will sponsor a Block Party on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which includes carnival-style activities. In addition, it will bring back Sunday Scoop – wrapping up the last weekend before kids are scheduled to head back to school.

The Corporate Challenge consists of a 4 on 4 Beach Volleyball Event, 4 Team JetSki Event and a 4 X 4 beach Soccer Event.  Each sponsoring teams will represent their corporation tournament play.  We suggest you may want to bring alternative players just in case so that you can have a complete team to make it through the complete competition.  We will provide the action.  The winners will receive the “BSN Tour Corporate Challenge Trophy and recognition as the BSN Corporate Team!!  Also at the same time you will be supporting to bring events like these to Charleston WV.  You also will be invited to be in the VIP Tent the next two days Pro Events for the EVP Tour and the UPW Jetski Competitions.  The two top winners of the challenge will be given their time in the sun during these events and of course all players’ sponsors and teams will be announced also.  

Game playing will consist of the following rules

The tournament consists of the seeding of the teams with the Round Robin play with playoffs of single game elimination.  The time of play will be six hours.  The winning teams will face off in the finals and at completion of the event we will move the party to the Parade and Concert on the River.

The women local tallent also showed excellent skills and made for some hard hitting, volley action for all to watch..  The VIP tent amidst the center of the action had some great views and our local support of sponsors was great to see the community all involved!!  The BSN Corporate Challenge going on along side the Pros competing in Sand Soccer and Volleyball had the sponsors fighting for the championship.
