Kevin Lorenz started playing volleyball in sixth grade. He continued to play and eventually earned a scholarship to play volleyball at St. Ambrose University as a middle blocker and made the NAIA’s First Team All-America his senior year. Post-college, Kevin ended up working in California, where he picked up beach volleyball, and began to take the sport more seriously when his job took him to Chicago. In 2009 and 2010, Kevin and his partner won the Chicago region AVP Barefoot Wine Championship, as well as smaller, local tournaments. He and partner Eli Masud won their first EVP pro event in 2010 and took second in the only other two events in which they were able to compete. The strong competition yet relaxing and run atmosphere is what attracts Kevin to the EVP Tour. Further, the numerous amateur divisions offered by the EVP give players (including his friends) of all levels a chance to play and compete. It is an organization which gives athletes the “stepping stones necessary to become better beach volleyball players,” he comments. Kevin is eager to continue excelling on the beach with the 2011 EVP Tour.
