What’s
New at the Maryland Seafood Festival?

September—Annapolis, MD— This year, the Maryland Seafood
Festival (MSF) is excited to be adding even more elements to the event for
festival-goers of all ages to enjoy.  “Last
year’s event had a huge turnout of 20,000 people, but since this time last year,
ticket sales have doubled as everyone is gearing up to enjoy all the new and
traditional events the festival has to offer,” notes Stephanie Duncan Troxell,
spokesperson for the MSF.

Thanks to
our many sponsors, new this year, the festival will encompass the land, shores
and bay with the many exhibits and activities to view while munching on
delectable seafood.  The EVP Beach
Volleyball Tour will entertain all as professional women volleyball players compete
on the festival beaches and the Maryland Watermen Association will be racing
Chesapeake Crab Skiffs on the picturesque bay.
Youngsters will be enthralled with the Crab Derby coordinated by Crabs
for Kids as well as the opportunity to create a keepsake piece of art by
painting their own crab shell.

Back again is
the thrilling King BMX Bike Stunt Show and the Capital’s 22nd Annual
Crab Soup Cook-off, DNR’s Maryland Fishing Challenge featuring the Diamond Jim
Awards Ceremony, the Beer Tasting Tent and the popular Chef Demo Tent.

The Maryland
Seafood Festival is known for showcasing the best seafood the Chesapeake region
has to offer.  “Foodie
Treasures from the Bay” will include crab and oysters as well as other seafood
and landlubber delicacies; all sold by professionals, non-profits and new food
vendors.

On the
Miller Lite main stage, the musical line-up includes festival favorites The
Reagan Years, Kelly Bell Band and the Chesapeake Steele Drum Band along with
the new, soon-to-be favorites, The Crawdaddies , Swamp Candy and more.

The MSF is
excited to support many non-profits including the Chesapeake Bay Trust, a
nonprofit, grant-making organization dedicated to improving the Chesapeake
Bay.  “The Chesapeake Bay Trust is
honored to be a part of this year’s Maryland Seafood Festival which offers its
attendees so many great opportunities to enjoy all the beauty and bounty of the
Chesapeake Bay,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications for the
Chesapeake Bay Trust.
